I went shoe hunting with Amir yesterday after work. Not for sneakers (though I have one that I’m eyeing), not for court shoes (though I need it and by need I mean want a new one), not for flip flops (not really a shoe but at least it’s a kind of a footwear which brings me joy all the same). I went hunting for a futsal shoe. Why? Because I have signed myself up to be in the Bar Council Human Rights Council team (we are called “Team Maju” – dunno why) for the WAO charity futsal tournament. Initially wanted to participate with the Law 20 (old uni mates) futsal buddies but alas.. the participation fee was too high for us. Luckily for me (cuz I’m totally addicted to futsal and to competitive sports) HRC wanted to send a team which I happily signed up for hence my need for a futsal shoe. Yelah, aku pun tanak la tengah syok-syok lari-lari kejar bola dengan machonye tetiba tersungkur tapi bukan sebab kene tackle ngan opponent tapi sebab tergelincir sendiri.. waaa malu giler beb. At least that was what our trainer said would happen if we don’t wear proper footwear.
Anyway, I have played before but because I usually played for fun with a complete disregard for the rules and regulations of the game, never actually bothered to get myself a proper shoe.
So shoe hunting we went. But being the cheapskate that I am, I insisted to look for and eventually buy a nice futsal shoe that will only cost me RM50-60. Bukan apa, bajet dah agak lari (sebab tengah berjimat untuk gi holiday in May) and lagipun bukannya selalu masuk tournament pun. Main suka-suka pun jarang-jarang. So rasanya kalau na beli kasut yang mahal (tapi admittedly sangat cantik la kan yang mahal-mahal tu) sangat membazir.
Little did I know that sangat la susah aku na cari kasut futsal that looks decent to my eyes with that budget… hahaha. On top of that, bila da jumpa yang agak cantik mata memandang dan harga pun within budget, saiz pulak tade. After going to quite a number of shops all of which tade my saiz dengan kaki yang dah kembang sebab banyak jalan, I finally admitted defeat and gave in to the pressure from the capitalists and bought a shoe that was slightly above my budget but look decent enough and one that actually fits me… argghhh finally… tapi bila aku fikir balik, ada kemungkinan yang maybe kasut tu muat because kaki aku yang dah kembang by that time… jangan nanti aku tersungkur time main sebab kasut tercampak sudah…
By the way, these are the details of the charity tournament. Meh la datang tengok beramai-ramai:-
