4BIA (Thai)(U)
I love horror movies. Everytime there's a new horror movie out, I'd go watch it at the cinema or everytime I go to the cinema, I would always look out for horror movies first.
Last week, I went to One Utama with my boyfriend to watch a thriller movie, another favourite genre of mine. That was when I saw this quite plain looking poster. Nonetheless, it had caught my attention because it looked like it could be a horror movie and as I said I'm always on the look out for them.
Anyway, finally I went to see it last tuesday but was not expecting much of it as it was classified as U. My expectation was wrong!
4bia is unlike all its peers where at the end of it, it is all a dream but the hero/heroin would find that the scratches they got in the dream is also there when they woke up, or that the supernatural being would only appear in mirror reflection or would only manifest itself in every other form but itself or the shy type supernatural being where they would tap the victim or something and then dissappear etc and the list goes on and on. Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying that all the other movie is necessarily bad. Some of them are actually pretty scary. But what I'm trying to say is when I go to see a horror movie, I expect to see ghost in its own form in the movie. Not ghost camouflaged in appliances or in the human beings and such.
That is what 4bia is serving to the audience. A generous portion of ghost as expected from a horror movie. It confirms your fear that everytime you hear something or thought that you see something, there really is something scary coming your way and not merely your overactive imagination. 4bia consist of 4 different stories, all equally entertaining in their own right even if it differ in the style as each story is told by a different directors with their own unique style.
The first story is about a lonely girl making friend with a lonely boy through text messaging, the second story is about a bullied student taking revenge, the third story is about a group of friends who went on a camping trip and the last story is about the scary experience of a flight attendant while on duty. On top of the scary stories, there are also blood and gore and also comedy which surprisingly enough, blend well together and does not make it any less scary. I say it's a must watch for horror movie enthusiast.
